Personal Statement
Teaching Philosophy: Strong foundations in basic artistic principles are fundamental to the creation of successful and ambitious work. While teaching the basics I hope to encourage students to challenge themselves, practice, and work hard. Even in the most introductory classes, giving the students the tools, but not the formula encourages them to find their own artistic vision, supporting them as they push beyond their own comfort levels. I work with students within the group as well as one on one, using the critique as a forum to help the entire class learn from each other and push each to higher levels. In allowing students to learn from each other, as well as from the teacher, the classroom becomes a constructive environment where everyone can benefit.
