3.   Hybrid classes will be held in the classroom for a few days a week.  I intend to record them and provide a zoom link for live attendance from home but I'm not sure how well that will work out.  They will be recorded for people to watch later.  But the preference is for you to attend in person or at least online.  For those taking my fully online courses, obviously, we won't be meeting in person.  We will NOT use Canvas.  I'll contact you for how to access the materials in the course. 

4. Instead of Canvas, I use slack to coordinate our work together.  The biggest reason is that Canvas has several problems and it doesn't really help me or students work together. Instead, we use slack and google documents to do our work.  Those tools are literally designed for collaboration.

How to find Psych courses
When searching for psychology classes, be sure to search for both psych categories:  Regular "Psychology" and "Psychology CCN".  Yes, it's confusing but it is what it is. Here is a picture of what I mean...note the two psych categories..one with, and one without CCN:

Regarding my courses, just a brief statement:

How to contact instructors:

Students sometimes want to add a course but they don't yet have a prerequisite, or their official transcripts have not yet been evaluated by the college. This will prevent you from adding some psychology classes.

The best thing you can do is get your transcripts evaluated; once the school has established that you meet prereqs, you should be able to add easily.

However, sometimes this process takes too long and you may need to contact your instructor.  

You can find the email of your instructor in the course catalog found here:   https://mynorth.seattlecolleges.edu/  --go to your class of interest and click on it, you should see the instructor’s name.  If you click on that, you’ll see their “instructor page” which should have their email address.

If there's no instructor named in the course catalog, often denoted by the name "staff”, you'll want to contact the program coordinator for the Department. If this is your situation, search for the Department here: https://northseattle.edu/search-north-seattle.  So, for example, type in sociology.  One of the returned links should take you to the departmental page and on that page you'll be able to see the program coordinator and their email.

If you are interested in adding a psychology class but for some reason need instruction permission or an add code, it will help your instructors if you provide the following information:

• Your name as the College registration has it
• Your North Seattle College student ID number
• A nice simple salutation introducing yourself and a brief explanation for your email
• A more detailed explanation of your needs.  It should also include which class you would like to add.
  • **important:  Include the course identification number, or at least the course title and the days and times of the week it meets. 
    • This information is useful because faculty will often teach several sections of the same title.  Being specific about the class will reduce confusion and time.
• A copy of your unofficial transcripts, if possible
  • If your registration name is different from your transcripts, a brief explanation for the discrepancy is helpful.

I very rarely give out Add codes for English 101, so please take English 101 before trying to enroll into Psych 100.  If you have finished English 101 in the past 10 years, have your official transcripts sent to the registrar here on campus--once done, they will let you in.
