Personal Statement

Carla M. Thompson, M.Ed

Internship Coordinator, Cooperative Work Experience Faculty

I believe education really does change lives.

My acquired Area of Expertise in work-based learning comes from a place of conviction and experience.   I am an advocate for open access education, alternative educational models, and a long time defender of justice and equity in the workplace.  My academic background includes a Bachelors in Political Economy, a Masters in Education and a Washington State teaching certification.  Professionally, my experience includes working for social justice as part of the labor movement; educating elementary school students from both underserved and privileged backgrounds; assisting diverse groups of unemployed adults toward re-employment; and currently, instructing and advising students in preparing for, finding and completing internships as part of their educational experience.
