Personal Statement

I work in the elearning department as the eLearning Instructional Designer and eLearning Manager for North Seattle College. I have been in education for over 15 years after receiving my Master of Fine Arts at the University of Illinois, Champagne-Urbana. After 5 years as a part time Instructor at Green River Community College in Auburn, Washington, I accepted a full time Associate Faculty position teaching Photography at San Juan College in Farmington New Mexico. It is there I started teaching online. The opportunities I learned for new and creative instructional methods for teaching online heavily influenced my instruction in all modalities. I returned to school for Instructional Design. Still teaching part time online and in the classroom, I enjoy brainstorming with faculty colleagues about new and creative ways to deliver material and ignite students curiosity and exploration. Learning new methods to share and renew our own teaching methods is a constant and enjoyable challenge. I love being a part of the college community and am a passionate believer in the democratic values of education, teaching and learning. Other passions include performing Flamenco dance, photography, art, reading, social justice, leadership and emotional intelligence.
