Personal Statement
I have a Master's Degree in Teaching English as a Second Language and have been teaching ESL since 1986. I began teaching here at NSC way back in 1991. Before that, I lived and worked in San Francisco.
I was born in Berkeley, California; I moved to Washington State in 1990 before the birth of our first son. My interests include gardening and all things botanical, languages, cooking, yoga, and politics.
I think that I have the best job in the world because I have the best students in the world! My students come from every corner of the globe, and the richness of their varied backgrounds enlivens the classroom. I believe that learning is an adventure, grammar is exciting, and each mistake can become a teacher if we just learn from it. My goal in the classroom is to help my students gain the skills so that they can continue to teach themselves.
